Judith Nissen

Judith is a freelance historian with more than two decades' experience. In addition to published works, commissions for a range of private and corporate clients have included research for permanent and temporary museum exhibitions, histories of buildings and organisations, archives reports, heritage significance assessments and citations, and genealogical research. From 2008 to 2018 Judith has been the Australian Dictionary of Biography Research Assistant for Queensland.

Lee has experience in researching and writing digital histories, having worked on the Find & Connect web resource as the Queensland based historian and as a research assistant on the Australian Women’s Archives Project. She is currently involved with the Centre for Social and Cultural Research, Griffith University in developing a website that will serve as a portal of research publications, commentaries and interactive resources focusing on Australian history up to 1859 in the territory that formally constituted the northern part of NSW during that period.
