A draft program for the 2017 Australia’s Homosexual Histories Conference is now available for perusal, and registrations have been opened. The conference will be hosted at the University of Adelaide’s North Terrace campus on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November.
Australia’s Homosexual Histories Conference brings together members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Intersex Queer+ communities, academics, researchers, students, community members and arts workers to explore and discuss histories of LGBTIQ+ life, politics, arts and culture. This year’s theme ‘Queer’ acknowledges the history of togetherness and division that is inherent in LGBTIQ+ history.
Keynote speakers include Quinn Eades, Dr Tiffany Jones and Raymond Zada. A number of complementary events will be hosted around the conference dates, including a workshop ‘Understanding and creating strategies for LGBTIQ+ inclusion in the GLAM sector‘ hosted by the History Trust of South Australia and Museums Galleries Australia, and the Ian Purcell memorial queer history walk, a part of Adeliade’s Feast Festival.
